Successful Keyword Research

Because BlogNet Awards nominations for March are now closed ( voting and commenting are still open until the end of the month :-) ), it gives us a little time to have some fun going through all the blogs in Entrecard.

We came across the blog site -   Search Engine Panel where the author talked about  a tool that we just had to share with you - Google’s Search-based Keyword Tool (SKT). we think it is safe to say that many if not most of you are aware of the keyword tools: Keyword Tool ExternalWord Tracker and Trellian Keyword Discovery ( the S.E.P’s example).  Keyword Research is a very important part to your Search Engine Optimizing strategy.  For those of you not familiar with how these kind of tools work, you type in your keyword and you will get a list of related keywords  to help you in your blog advertising, blog content, SEO etc.

Although we are not as familiar with (Trellian’s) Keyword Discovery, we did note and agree with the author that the Search Based Keyword Tool ( keep it simple and just call it SKT) is similar to the Word Tracker.

What exactly  is the Search-based Keyword Tool?

From the mouths of Google Support

“The Search-based Keyword Tool generates keyword and landing page ideas highly relevant and specific to your website. In doing so, the tool helps you identify additional advertising opportunities that aren’t currently being used in your AdWords ad campaigns………….The keywords are also organized by category. Click any category to expand and view its subcategories. If applicable, you’ll also see the keywords organized by brand names…”

We found the tool to be very easy to use, it gave us some very good information, including demographics, so this is indeed a tool that we at Success BlogNet as well as BlogNet awards ( just two of our sites) will probably keep using.

We suggest that you read the full article on Search Engine Panel, to get an even clearer picture of  SKT.

As they say on Google

Yes it was the information I was looking for. I used the keyword tool last night to revise the meta-tag on my website. First I referenced my current website, and used the top keywords for each keyword it gave me. I only used the top 3, just to keep it simple.

As I am still new at this, I hope I put a sufficient amount of keywords in my meta-tag. None the less, using the tool was fun, and I like numbers, so I got to crunch a little bit.

    Enjoy

Hi Ron, good to see you here. When I read what you said, apart from feeling gratified that I helped a little, I could not help but wonder, are you talking about meta tags or meta keywords?
I have to be very honest here, while I have a basic understanding, I am not a SEO expert. That being said, I am ( hopefully..lol) a good researcher.
Maybe you could come back and let me know? If you want to know more on this subject, let me know and I will get an article on here and find places where you can go to get good information. Will do my best!

    Best Regards,
