Have You Heard of Follow Friday on Twitter?

Follow Friday is a Twitter Meme and for those of you who don’t know what a twitter meme is, these are trends , activities or sayings associated with Twitter.

Apart from the novelty to any meme you will find, there is a serious aspect to the trend ” Follow Friday”

How many of you go to Twitter and follow everyone in sight? Its almost like a game isn’t it?

The fact is the twitter is a micro blogging platform and we all know that as with any blog, social media, it is all about communication and relationships.

So the question then becomes who do you follow on Twitter and how do you find them?

Follow Friday is a great tool to help you find those people who have similar interests to you.
Follow Friday was based on the premise that you will trust the recommendations of your friends and if your friend says…Hey here is a person who has great information, who is worth following, then you will be more inclined to listen and follow.

You can make your suggestions more interesting by building a theme around whom to follow.

Here are some examples:

- New followers
- Especially helpful followers
- Humorous followers

- Most conversational followers
- Followers categorized by medium, location, affiliation, occupation (e.g. business Twitters or craft Twitters)

There is no set number of people you can suggest, but everywhere I have read, they are saying 2 or three people on the average.
