I am sure that many people by now have heard the rumors of Google buying DIGG, to the tune of  $200 million Dollars, which makes one wonder what will Diggs new name be?  I have heard of such terms as GDigg, GoDigg, Digoogle and even GooDigg.  Maybe there will be a contest for the best name in which case I am sure many people will jump on the chance to enter said contest and Hopefully (Digog?) will pay a handsome reward.

I am certain that when Larry Page and Sergey Brin the founders of Google,they could not imagine the success they would have with one of the most powerful search engines in the world.

In many ways one can compare Larry and Sergey to starting a blog:

1. Being Professional:
Just because a blog is free or on a subdomain, does not mean that you dont need to be serious.  Always Treat your blog as your business. Like any business, it needs the time, effort and energy.  Treat your readers as you would with any important client, patron for the simple reason that your readers will be your tomorrows clients.

2. Honesty:
How can one compare a free blog to Google? Think on this for a moment - Google is the first search engine that gives pure results without any human to sort the list.  They don’t manipulate the result, so that a blog can get a better psition on the result page.
Your blog should be based on honesty.
Be honest, write about something that you really know and enjoy. Don’t be afraid nobody won’t read your blog if you talk about your favorite foods, favorite cartoon, your cats, your puppies or anything. There will be always people with the same passion you can share and discuss to.

3. Focus:

When Larry Page and Sergey Brin started Google, while I am sure they had some kind of business plan, I don’t think that they ever dreamed that they would aquire Youtube, feedburner Orkut and now maybe(?) Digg.  Their focus was to create and build a better search engine.
The moral to this information is to FOCUS. Keeping a focus on what you are doing and everything else will follow

4. Never Give Up:

I am sure that like anyone starting a business Larry and Sergey, must have had their down times when they wondered if they would succeeed.
Creating and running a blog can be a challenge, especially if we are wanting to create an income with it.
The fact is you have to stay loyal to your blog, never give up, just as Larry and Segey didnt give up, even when people laughed at them the first time they told the public about their idea behind Google.
